Be Real
Have you ever met a fake person? Not fun, huh? It’s hard to take them seriously and one usually cannot count on what they say. Their words are often filled with flattery and their motives seem suspicious.
One of the “hotbeds” of fakeness is probably the local church. People act as if everything is okay; like they aren’t dealing with issues like hurt, pain, unforgiveness, addiction, etc., etc., etc. And while I realize that it’s ‘easier’ to be fake than real, God can only deal with us the way He wants to when we ‘get real’.
I recently had a meeting with a good church-going Believer that said, “Pastor Tommy, I’m tired of being fake. I’m tired of acting like there’s nothing wrong when I am in a horrible struggle in certain areas of my life”. I commended this person for being honest and especially for being real. He is on his way to true breakthrough in his life, but notice why: he isn’t close to breakthrough because he is perfect or has it all together. He is on his way to breakthrough because he decided to be REAL. God can deal with the real failures, real weaknesses and real issues in our life. But it is really hard for Him to deal with someone that won’t be real. So please, I encourage you…..Be Real.
